Responsibilities
Financial Counselor determines patient liability based on benefits and advises patient of their liability. Prior to scheduled elective procedures notifies patient of financial responsibility. Make arrangements for payment from patient or guarantor by time of discharge. Assists patient with financial arrangements, and refers qualified patients to government assist programs. The incumbent also serves as financial counseling liaison for the department. Maintains effective communication skills, including verbal, written and telephone. Proficient in mathematical skills. Ability to communicate with school age, adolescent, young adult, middle adult and older adults.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
1. Knowledge of standard insurance companies and verification requirements.2. Well versed in authorization processes for all payers 3. Ability to multi-task, prioritize needs to meet required timelines4. Analytical and problem-solving skills5. Customer Services experience required6. High School Graduate or GED Equivalent preferred.
