Job Summary and Responsibilities
The OR Surgical Media Specialist is responsible for providing advanced technical support for surgical procedures involving OR integration systems, and video capture. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of surgical procedures, sterile technique, and advanced troubleshooting skills to resolve complex technical issues. The Media Specialist works collaboratively with Perioperative Nurse and Operating Room technician to provide support and assistance with microscopes, endoscopes, light sources and video/recording systems.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares for video cases by ensuring all necessary equipment is functioning optimally and readily available; performs advanced troubleshooting for OR integration systems, and all surgical video capture cases.
- Plans and organizes audio-visual and other technical equipment and supplies for assigned cases for maximum efficiency and most cost effective utilization.
- Performs preventive maintenance, and makes minor repairs and adjustments on equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations
- Makes sure media assets are easily accessible to surgeons, residents, nurses and other healthcare professionals for training, research, and patient education purposes.
- Assists and educates new staff to OR Integration Systems, endoscopic equipment, and what equipment is utilized during specific cases such as scopes, scope size, and cameras for video capture.
- Opens sterile supplies utilizing sterile technique. Sterilizes appropriate camera, scope, and cables as needed. Prepares and sets up case carts.
- Responsible for all OR equipment repairs, partners with Biomed, places work orders, works directly with vendors for troubleshooting of issues, and follows through on loaner equipment and return of repaired equipment.

Experience:
Knowledge of sterile technique, video equipment setup or laser principles or One (1) year OR experience (equivalent medical experience would be considered)
Education:
HS Diploma or GED Equivalent
