Responsibilities
As a Workers' Compensation Claims Trainee in our Insurance Training Program, participants will learn all aspects of commercial property and casualty insurance. Upon successful completion, candidate will build relationships with our agents and insureds by working with them on investigating, evaluating, reserving, negotiating and resolving Workers’ Compensation claims. Key functions include but are not limited to:
- Participate in a 4-6 month formal training program to learn fundamentals of property & casualty insurance.
- Complete work and reading projects and pass required exams.
- Establish good working relationships with colleagues and management staff.
- Attain a basic working knowledge of state regulatory requirements for each line of business.
- Under direct supervision, perform the basic functions of claims adjusting.
- Participate in job-shadow arrangements in various departments.
- Participate in agency visitations with Underwriters, Claim Representatives or Loss Control Representatives to begin developing customer contacts.
- Frequent travel, including overnights, is required while in the training program. Occasional travel required thereafter.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Must be able to participate in person during the training program offered
- Demonstrates strong analytical ability and intellectual curiosity
- Effective oral and written communication skills so that others will clearly understand the content and the intent of the discussion/correspondence.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Self-motivation and an out-going orientation to work with customers and associates
- Valid driver’s license required
