The Vice President of Nursing & Chief Nursing Officer for the Kansas hospitals, St. Catherine - Garden City, St. Catherine - Dodge City, and Bob Wilson Memorial, provides leadership in the daily operations of the hospitals. In this role you will be responsible and accountable for leading hospital clinical operations by working through directors and other health care team members in providing patient care 24 hours per day and 7 days a week.
Additional responsibilities of the The VP Nursing & CNO include:
- Exercises accountability for nursing care wherever it is provided in the hospital.
- Assuming active leadership role with Community Board, Senior Leadership, Medical Staff and with hospital leaders in hospital. Important to this role is understanding the leadership expectations of this position and the entire leadership team.
- Acting as a team player and contribute toward a team centered approach that lends itself to ensuring “team before self” to lead this complex, highly matrixed organization into the differentiated leading role as the system of choice.
- Inviting others into their work to be fully transparent with the activities of this position, allowing for celebration of success and learnings through opportunities for change.
- Acting as a change agent for the health system by being bold in our thoughts and actions that generate the need for urgency as we forge ahead as a thought leader in the industry.
- Demonstrating personal and professional accountability to the community, associates, physicians, and sponsors for performance that this position and its team complete.
In addition to bringing humankindness the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:
- Masters Degree in Nursing (other disciplines acceptable if they hold a BSN in nursing), required
- Doctorate Degree, preferred
- 5 years progressive clinical leadership nursing experience required.
- CNO Experience preferred.
- RN license to practice in CO, UT or KS as applicable, required
- Nurse Executive Certification, professional certification required within 1 year of hire or transfer to role.
Physical Requirements-Sedentary work -(prolonged periods of sitting and exert up to 10lbs force occasionally)

Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital is a 26-bed facility serving the community since 1951 with a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient services. For more than 60 years, Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital has provided access to health care close to home for the families of Ulysses, Kansas and surrounding communities. Services include Case Management, CT Scan, Diabetic education, dietary consult, EEG/EKG, emergency care, laboratory, MRI, mammography, nuclear medicine, obstetrics (prenatal, postpartum, delivery), midwifery, primary and specialty clinics, physical therapy, radiology, respiratory therapy, surgery, swing beds and ultrasound.
