Besides the Texas RN license and NCLEX pass, Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is essential. Additional certifications can enhance a candidate’s profile, but the residency program primarily focuses on foundational nursing credentials.

Residents engage in patient assessments, developing nursing diagnoses, planning and implementing care, and evaluating outcomes under supervision. These duties are paired with educational sessions to deepen clinical judgment and decision-making skills.

The program offers a 12-month structured transition featuring preceptors, mentors, and a competency-driven curriculum. Virtual and in-person supports enhance learning, easing new nurses into patient care roles while building confidence and clinical expertise.
