Position Summary
As a Baseball Grounds Crew Member, you will be an integral part of maintaining and preparing the field for games and events. Your primary responsibilities will include ensuring that the playing surface is in optimal condition, managing field equipment, and performing routine maintenance tasks.
This role will pay an hourly rate of $18.75.

About the Venue
The Tsongas Center on the campus of UMass Lowell (UML) is a 7,000 seat multi-purpose arena. The Tsongas Center is one of the premier arenas in the New England region and is home to UML Division I Men’s Ice Hockey, UML Men’s and Women’s basketball programs, PWHL Hockey, Massachusetts Pirates Football as well as a variety of events including concerts, family shows, comedy, and other live events. The Tsongas Center serves as a public venue to the community and has been a staple of the region for the past 26 years.
Responsibilities
Field Preparation:
- Edge, and trim the outfield, infield, and warning tracks.
- Ensure the pitching mound, batter's box, and base paths are properly maintained and groomed.
- Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and other treatments as needed.
Daily Maintenance.
- Clean and repair field equipment.
- Handle irrigation systems to maintain proper moisture levels.
- Remove debris and ensure the field is free of hazards.
Game Day Responsibilities.
- Prepare the field for games, including setting up bases and pitching mounds.
- Perform quick repairs and adjustments as needed during games.
- Manage and oversee any field-related needs before, during, and after events.
Equipment Management:
- Operate and maintain field maintenance equipment such as mowers, tractors, and rakes.
- Ensure all equipment is stored properly and is in good working condition.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures related to field maintenance and equipment use.
- Adhere to environmental regulations regarding the use of chemicals and waste disposal.
Qualifications
Experience:
-Previous experience in groundskeeping, turf management, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Skills:
- Basic knowledge of field maintenance techniques and equipment.
- Ability to operate and maintain machinery and tools.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications or training in turf management are a plus.
Working Conditions:
