Frequently asked questions

In Indianapolis, Licensed Assessment Clinicians typically hold advanced degrees in social work, psychology, or counseling, combined with state licensure such as LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT. Experience with diverse populations and skills in diagnostic evaluation and treatment planning are highly valued in this competitive mental health market.

While a Licensed Assessment Clinician directly assesses and plans treatment for patients dealing with mental health or substance use issues, a clinical evaluation manager focuses on overseeing evaluation protocols and staff. The clinician’s work is hands-on, emphasizing patient interaction and intervention.

Daily tasks involve conducting thorough clinical assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, providing brief behavioral interventions, and coordinating with other healthcare providers to support integrated physical and mental health care.

Aspire Indiana Health emphasizes a holistic approach, integrating behavioral health with primary care and social services. Clinicians here engage not only in assessments but also in addressing social determinants like housing and employment, setting it apart from conventional clinical roles.

Aspire offers clinicians access to a multidisciplinary team and community-focused programs, alongside benefits such as a $2,000 hiring bonus and comprehensive health plans. This fosters professional growth within a nonprofit committed to whole-person care in Marion County.

Licensed Assessment Clinicians in Indianapolis typically earn between $55,000 and $75,000 annually, depending on experience and licensure. Aspire Indiana Health’s compensation aligns with local standards, often supplemented by bonuses and benefits reflecting nonprofit sector norms.

Demand in Indianapolis remains steady due to growing awareness of mental health needs. However, competition is notable for roles requiring advanced licensure and diverse clinical experience, making specialized skills in behavioral interventions a significant advantage.

Reliable transportation is essential, as clinicians may need to travel within the community. Marion County’s urban layout offers reasonable commute options, but owning a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance is mandatory for fulfilling job duties effectively.

One common misconception is that the role is limited to therapy sessions. In reality, Licensed Assessment Clinicians conduct comprehensive evaluations, coordinate care plans, and collaborate with community resources, making their impact broader than direct counseling alone.

While Indiana licensure such as LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT is mandatory, having a Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor (LCAC) credential is considered a plus, reflecting Aspire’s integrated approach to behavioral health and substance use treatment.
