Frequently asked questions

Evaluating alignment means considering your passion for marketing and life sciences, plus your readiness to engage in strategic planning and project coordination. This internship suits students in marketing, business, or related fields aiming to gain hands-on experience in medical device marketing.

Top interns often demonstrate initiative, strong communication, and teamwork abilities. They're comfortable navigating digital marketing trends and can juggle multiple project timelines, making them valuable assets in dynamic marketing environments like Cook Medical.

Unlike broader marketing roles, this internship emphasizes strategic involvement with product launches, brand management, and market data analysis specifically within medical devices, offering a specialized lens into healthcare-focused marketing.

The internship offers exposure to both regional and global marketing strategies, giving interns a chance to collaborate across international teams while rooted in Bloomington’s vibrant medical device hub.

Interns contribute by supporting go-to-market plans and branding strategies that align with Cook Medical’s innovation pipeline, directly influencing how new medical products reach and resonate with target customers.

Product Marketing Interns in Bloomington typically earn between $18 and $22 per hour, reflecting local market standards for paid internships in marketing within the medical device sector.

Bloomington’s internship market has moderate competition, with Cook Medical’s specialized healthcare focus attracting candidates interested in life sciences marketing, so demonstrating relevant coursework and initiative can improve candidacy.

Given Bloomington’s manageable traffic, many interns opt for biking or public transit. Cook Medical’s location is accessible, but securing housing nearby is advantageous to reduce commute times during the summer internship.

Strong academic performance with a GPA around 3.0+, coursework in marketing or life sciences, and familiarity with digital marketing tools can distinguish candidates aiming for product marketing internships in healthcare.

Interns gain direct involvement in medical device marketing strategies, mentorship from seasoned professionals, and hands-on experience with global brand management—experiences that are less common in generic marketing internships.
