Job Overview
Shriners Children’s Shreveport is seeking an experienced and visionary Chief of Staff to lead our multidisciplinary pediatric outpatient clinic. This leadership role is ideal for a dynamic physician with a passion for pediatric specialty care, a commitment to academic excellence, and strong leadership capabilities.
The Chief of Staff will serve as the senior clinical leader, responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality, compassionate care across our service lines, which include pediatric orthopedics (spine, hand, neuromuscular), sports medicine, oral and maxillofacial surgery, rheumatology, genetic services, and spasticity management. In partnership with hospital administration, the Chief of Staff will help shape clinical strategy, support provider engagement, and ensure continued excellence in patient outcomes.
This position offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, teach medical students, residents, and fellows, and work closely with affiliate institutions Ochsner LSU St. Mary’s Medical Center and Willis-Knighton South.
The ideal candidate will be a board-certified pediatric orthopedic surgeon with leadership experience, a background in pediatric neuromuscular care, and a strong interest in team development, quality improvement, and academic collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership in education, research, management of physicians and practitioners, scheduling, and collaboration with community affiliates.
- Schedule: 2 days of clinic and 2 days of OR/week, with 0.2 FTE of administrative duties.
- Gait Lab responsibilities, including Medical Director of the Gait Lab.
- Educate medical students, residents, and fellows through lectures, workshops, and training sessions.
- Engage in research activities, contribute to advancements in pediatric orthopedics, and publish findings in reputable journals.
- Participate in regional outreach programs, community initiatives, and represent the facility at professional conferences and events.
- Attend monthly Board of Governor meetings and maintain with Shriners Fraternity
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school
- Must hold a current board certification from the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery
- Successful completion of a fellowship in Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery
- At least eight years post fellowship experience required.
- Must possess or be eligible for Louisiana medical license
- DEA license
- Neuromuscular background preferred, but not required.
- Active participation in professional associations, such as POSNA
