Overview
Pricing Analysts are responsible for determining profitability of existing accounts and proposing new pricing on accounts by analyzing a number of factors to determine cost and establish pricing necessary to attain proper contribution.
Responsibilities
- Analyze Pricing Request- approving if profitable, denying if unprofitable
- Perform 90 day audits of accounts
- Manage/review expiring tariffs
- Perform Account Manager and terminal profitability reports
- Perform competitive rate comparisons
- Knowledge of Transportation contracts
- Respond to inquiries on quote requests, courtesy invoice reductions and tariff/contract publications brought forth by internal and external customers
- Determine profitability of existing accounts and proposed new pricing on accounts by Review contract verbiage for submissions that may not be to our favor and forward to Legal with any inquiry
- Report data on pricings approved/profiles submitted
- Acquire credit scores on necessary Customers
- Calculate costs of volume shipments to ascertain needed revenue for proper contribution on volume quotes
- Work closely with Account Managers, Service Center Managers, Regional Sales Directors and other Management and internal departments
- Understand rate structure, discount, FAK, minimum floor charges, accessorials, fuel surcharges, loading/unloading allowances, rebates, etc. and how it affects profitability
- Authority to formulate, affect, interpret, or implement Pricing management policies or operating practices
- Carries out major Pricing assignments in conducting the operations of the business
- Authority to negotiate and bind the company on significant Pricing matters
- Provide consultation or expert Pricing advice to management
- Track assigned Service Center performance and adjust goals for better performance
- Assist in covering responses sent to the Pricing group email group as needed
- Assist fellow Pricing team members on projects and/or backlog as needed
- Complete special projects issued by Management as needed
- Continuously improve processes
