For almost 20 years, we have provided top-level food, facilities management and integrated services to corporations, healthcare facilities, K-12 schools, colleges, universities and aviation lounges.
Sodexo is seeking an Enviromental Services General Manager to provide leadership for both their management and hourly teams at three (3) locations in Des Moines, IA. The General Manager will drive best practice by using Sodexo systems and tools to ensure all areas of the hospital are clean and safe. This position works closely with Hospital leadership, the community, and the other hospital departments to create strategic plans for the EVS departments that align with Mission, Vision and Values of Unity Point Health. This individual is responsible for the execution of hospital cleaning programs to include all areas of the hospital. The position will use Sodexo tools and processes and integrate them with patient experience program at Unity Point to create an environment that drives patient satisfaction and meets the regulatory requirements for maintaining a clean and safe facility. As a team Sodexo leaders will work with the staff of Unity Point to drive staff and patient engagement, while working with leadership both inside the department and within the hospital.
The best qualified candidate is a EVS professional who enjoys working alongside other healthcare leaders and the community to provide best practice in Enviromental services that will deliver excellent patient care to those we serve. This manager will have a collaborative mindset, commitment to operational excellence standards, a willingness to coach and develop staff, openness to change and attentiveness with a responsive communication style that will encourage success in this position. Technical skills will include high levels of proficiency with human resource activity, the development of staff, building relations with nursing leaders and have the ability to analyze data to leverage results for improvement using Sodexo tools and Microsoft Office products. This individual needs to have a passion to help grow our teams through effective communication and both team and individual development.
What You'll Do
- Be responsible for driving client and patient satisfaction scores;
- Provide a clean and safe environment for patients, visitors and staff and works closely with the Infectious Control department;
- Lead teams and departmental projects and initiatives;
- Effectively manage the Unit Operating System; and/or
- Support a diverse and inclusive workforce.

What You Bring
- Leadership experience developing and motivating a team to exceed the expectations of clients and customers in service and the technical execution of a housekeeping system;
- Experience as an expert in building and maintain strong customer / client relationships;
- A strong leadership skills and can work independently to drive program compliance and reach project target dates of completion;
- 5+ years of management experience, preferably in a hospital environment;
- 5 + years of previous custodial or housekeeping director level experience preferably in a hospital environment;
- Capability of analyzing data, present and effectively communicate to all levels within the organization related to training, leading committees and change management;
- Experience effectively managing projects within agreed upon timelines;
- Proficiency with computers and other technology;
- Background with Vendor and contract management, as well as union and contract negotiations; and/or
- Strong financial acumen and budget management experience
