In addition to the amenities found throughout the gym our programs include aquatics, racquet sports, youth classes, individual training opportunities, Weight Management program, Small Group Training, virtual fitness, and group fitness. Strength training options include resistance equipment, free weights, and body sculpting classes.

Position Summary: Swim Instructors at the Fort Sanders West Health are responsible for teaching swim lessons to members. They are to interact with and monitor the safety of all members in a friendly and professional manner.

Responsibilities
- Preferably maintains American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification or equivalent.
- Is present in sufficient time prior to the swim lesson to prepare equipment and interact with participants.
- Performs swim lessons in accordance with American Red Cross standards and FSHFC policies.
- Wears modest swimsuits or active while teaching swim lessons.
- Maintains a positive manner at all times.
- Gives options for alternative lesson times are to be given to swim families in the case of inclement weather or any circumstance at the pool(s) that would require cancelling a lesson.
- Contacts the relative swim family within 24 hours by either phone call, text or email when given a referral for a new swim student,
- Records their hours in the appropriate location by the designated deadlines, to log all lessons in their schedule and have them checked out at the end of each pay period in accordance with department guidelines for payroll reports.
- Monitors payment for all Private/Semi-private lessons and asks clients to make payment before lesson is performed.
- Monitors the safety of swim students.
- Maintains control and contact with swim students at all times during scheduled lesson.
- Attends all swim instructor staff meetings and required company refreshers for Integrity or HIPAA, etc.
- Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to a high school diploma or GED. Preference may be given to individuals possessing a HS diploma or GED or college courses.
Minimum Experience:
Minimum of one (1) year experience preferred.
Licensure Requirement:
Must maintain certification in CPR for the Professional Rescuer (or equivalent.)
