Position Summary
The Cashier is responsible for operating the cash register, processing payments, and providing prompt, friendly service to all guests. In addition to handling transactions, this role prepares and serves concession items, pours beverages, and ensures all food and drinks are presented with the highest quality standards. The Cashier must maintain excellent attendance and adhere to all company attendance policies while supporting a positive guest experience.
This role pays an hourly rate of $12.00 - $14.00 and is tip eligible.

About the Venue
Stormont Vail Events Center is the premier entertainment, exhibition, and convention venue in Northeast Kansas. The facilities in central Topeka is owned by Shawnee County and managed by Oak View Group. Our five buildings include a newly renovated 10,000 seat arena; a newly renovated exhibit hall with over 78,000 sq. ft. of open space; a livestock facility with a show arena, exercise arena and stalls; and two community buildings used for numerous small and medium-sized functions.
Responsibilities
- Conduct the cash register sales by entering the orders and completing the transaction.
- Responsible for maintaining stock and supply levels, and communicating to the Concessions Stand Manger of low stock items.
- Listening and responding to customer requests or concerns.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work space including but not limited to disposal of garbage & cleaning dishes.
- Serve beverages to guests including alcoholic beverages responsibly. Must check guest’s ID in accordance with state/federal regulations to verify minimum age requirement for purchase of alcoholic beverages.
- Maintains sanitation, health and safety standards in work areas.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must be 18 or over.
- Three or more months’ experience in food service industry preferred.
- Previous cash handling experience preferred.
- Ability to learn to handle cash and learn to operate a cash register and corresponding system.
- Excellent interpersonal skills & a friendly, positive attitude with co-workers, managers, volunteers & guests.
