Job Summary and Responsibilities
As the EMT, you'll be responsible for the pre-hospital care and transportation of citizens in Lake of the Woods Ambulance Service’s primary service area (PSA) and surrounding PSA’s as requested through mutual aid. Your keen attention to detail will show though equipment checks and basic maintenance of the vehicle. Additionally, you must keep records of the vehicle use and patient contacts through the MNStar data forms. Continual evaluation and improvement of your skills as an EMT and our Service to the community will be reviewed regularly. You'll work as needed/ volunteer (PRN) in this position.
To thrive in this role, you'll demonstrate excellent verbal skills; the ability to multi-task and prioritize, and abiltiy to adhere to the physical demands. Our EMTs must be able to attend 2/3 of our monthly meetings and makeup any information/skills that were covered in meetings missed. As an EMT, you should respond to a minimum of 12 calls per year. We will also consider contributions to the group in other areas such as scheduled stand-by times for high school games and county events. Our EMTs must complete our service driving curriculum and driving evaluation, in addition to driving history review.

What you'll do...
- Working in a team of three, the EMT will provide a safe and skilled transport of patients to the appropriate healthcare facility, providing treatments and interventions as allowed in our policy/procedures.
- EMT will learn the safe operation of equipment in and related to the ambulance department.
- Any need for repair is immediately reported to the director or fleet maintenance personnel.
- EMT must be familiar with city and county roads.
- Uses proper lifting techniques and follows established procedures during the course of work.
- Understands and follows safety procedures specifically related to job duties.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- EMT must have BLS-CPR certification at the Healthcare Provider level.
- Must maintain EMT licensure with the EMSRB.
- Must submit valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
