Job Summary and Responsibilities
  • Serves as a Charge Nurse as needed and ensures appropriate patient care is provided in a cost effective, quality driven and patient focused manner OR functions as an RN Resource Nurse for the facility.
  • Serves on teams and leads teams as a part of daily practice
  • Serves as a role model for the unit in incorporating national and organizational goals to improve quality, patient safety, and satisfaction.
  • Role models communication skills and is able to articulate and translate the patient’s condition to physicians and other colleagues; effectively utilizes AIDET and SBAR communication methods.
  • If applicable, participates in at least one specialty role that is not required of all registered nurses on the unit.
  • Supports continuous learning on the unit by sharing research material from professional journals and/or organizations.
  • Identifies opportunities for clinical quality and workplace improvement.
  • Applies evidence-based practice as a regular aspect of professional practice.
  • Ensures improvements in the practice setting by assuming responsibility for self-development in life-long learning.
  • Facilitates unit-based education, in- services, and skills validation
  • Serves as a preceptor as needed for nurse interns, new graduate, and experienced nurses OR functions as an RN Resource Nurse for the facility
  • Serves as a unit-based champion on a committee or council (e.g., diabetes, falls, wound, CAUTI, CLABSI, SSI, HCAHPS, IT, etc.); completes unit-based audits and provides data to management for follow-up with staff to achieve positive outcomes.
Job Requirements
  • BSN 
  • Three (3) years of RN experience
  • BLS with skills demonstration required (and ACLS, if applicable) 
  • Current, Approved National Certification:https://www.nursingworld.org/organizational‐programs/magnet/accepted-certifications
  • Active Registered Nurse license in good standing with the Texas Board of Nursing
