Job Overview

Shriners Children's- Spokane is looking for a part time Orthotic and Prosthetic Technician to join our team.  The Orthotic and Prosthetic Technician fabricates orthotic and/or prosthetic devices with minimum supervision of the Director.  He/she will maintain laboratory equipment and participate in inventory control.  The Technician will also repair and adjust orthotic and/or prosthetic devices as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Performs tasks as directed with minimal supervision.  Maintains a work schedule so that pre-scheduled appointments are met and work is ready
  • Fabricates devices that are cosmetically good; unblemished in appearance, have neatly sewn straps, smooth edges and surfaces to enhance
  • Upon completion of device, has Orthotist/Prosthetist examine the quality of work performed to ensure patient safety
  • Monitors stock and orders supplies, completing purchase orders as necessary, keeping par level of all items in stock to ensure timely completion
  • Maintains equipment in a clean, operable condition at all times.  Continuously checks condition of equipment and tools; replaces or initiates repair as necessary, keeping Director informed
  • Participates in conjunction with research to provide assistance in developing new projects or assisting on current projects
  • Labels devices correctly to enhance patient safety, ensuring the patient receives the appropriate device
