Job Summary and Responsibilities
JOB SUMMARY:
In accordance with the mission and philosophy of Dignity Health, the Perianesthesia Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse who assumes responsibility and accountability for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for surgical and procedural patients. The PACU is a 24 hour, 7 day a week department with some hours covered by employees that are on Standby (Call). In addition to regular work hours, this position will be required to take call as needed to provide care for the patients. The Ambulatory Care Unit is only Open Monday through Friday and the last Saturday of each month for elective procedures. Peri-Anesthesia Registered Nurses work in both units as needed.

Job Requirements
Minimum Experience Qualifiations:
External Candidates: Minimum of one year of experience as a staff RN in an acute care hospital post-anesthesia care department within the last 5 years required
Internal Candidates: Minimum of 2 years critical care; Emergency department,ICU, or Cardiac surveillance Unit experiences.
American Society of Perianesthesia Nurses (ASPAN) Certification Preferred
OR:
A registered nurse with documented successful completion, prior to hiring, of the program entitled: “Competency Based Orientation and Credentialing Program for the Registered Nurse in the Perianesthesia Setting” from ASPAN.
Education:
BSN preferred
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/TRAINING: (required to be current at time of hire)
California licensure as a Registered Nurse. (RN)
Certification in American Heart Association Basic Life Support for healthcare providers. (CT CPRBLS)
Certification in American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support for healthcare providers. (CT ACLS)
Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support for healthcare providers (CT PALS).
