Job Summary
Position Title: Director, Training and Development

Job Summary: The Director of Training and Development will assist in partnership with the Senior Director of Training, with the design, implementation, and evaluation of Essen’s enterprise-wide learning strategy which includes effectively leveraging AI technologies, with a specific focus on the deployment and optimal use of Microsoft Copilot and other generative AI tools. The role will focus on leveraging AI-driven learning tools to enhance staff engagement, onboarding, and professional growth.
Reporting to the Senior Director, this leader will partner closely with operations, People & Culture, and clinical leadership to ensure training programs align with organizational goals, compliance standards, and workforce development priorities.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Execute the training and development strategy across clinical, administrative, and leadership functions.
- Integrate AI-based learning platforms and analytics to personalize training delivery and track employee development.
- Lead the design and rollout of AI-assisted onboarding programs that accelerate readiness for new hires.
- Partner with department heads to identify skill gaps and create targeted learning pathways.
- Manage the Learning Management System and ensure consistent content quality, tracking, and reporting.
- Execute measurable learning outcomes and performance metrics to evaluate training effectiveness.
- Collaborate with the Senior Director and HR leaders to align training programs with talent management, succession planning, and organizational goals.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, compliance requirements, and healthcare education trends.
- Manage a team of trainers, instructional designers, and external training partners.
- Ensure all programs meet regulatory and accreditation requirements.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in Organizational Development, HR, or Education preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in learning and development, talent management, or organizational effectiveness.
- Proven experience in AI-enhanced training, digital learning transformation, or technology-driven workforce development.
- Strong background in instructional design, adult learning theory, and learning measurement frameworks
- Experience working in healthcare or a regulated industry preferred.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency with LMS platforms and data analytics tools.
Technical proficiencies to include:
- Microsoft Office:
- Advanced Excel
- eClinical Works
- AI Expertise:
- Deep technical understanding of AI/ML concepts, particularly generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) like those powering Microsoft Copilot.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 Copilot with the ability to translate technical expertise into practical business outcomes.
Preferred systems experience:
- UKG
- Twilio Flex
Location: Required to be in Bronx-based office location 5 days a week
