Overview
As the Field Safety Specialist, you will lead Safety training, accountability and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Manages accident reporting and investigation for assigned Regions.
- Travel to visit service centers each week. Most weeks will require 3 nights away from home. Travel some weeks will be up to 4 nights away.
- Be willing to work during the hours that the Service Centers are operating in a wide range of weather conditions.
- Comfortable working in an unstructured environment in order to create a safer work environment.
- Conducts training and education classes for Drivers, Dock Workers and other employees.
- Tracks and analyzes Safety data.
- Coordinates joint safety audits with leaders to ensure compliance with company policies, standards and regulatory requirements.
- Implements behavioral based safety techniques.
- Assists Operations in implementing and maintaining safety incentive and awareness processes as well as other processes in areas of safety and health.
- Manages and develops Lead Driver Trainers/ Program.
- Be a leader in positive recognition of safe behaviors with Safety's support presence in employee meetings, recognition activities and interaction with employees both formal and informal.
- Continuously identify areas and processes for improvement in the Safety Department and the Company.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or 4 years of related work experience
- 5 years experience in environmental health and safety or relate field, and/or experience in the LTL industry
- Experience and understanding of accepted loss prevention and safety practices
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office( Word, Excel) and typing skills
- Great communication skills written and verbal
- Professional certifications (i.e.: CDS, CSS, or other recognized certifications) preferred
- Current CDL is a plus
