Frequently asked questions

Program I roles focus heavily on clinical oversight and regulatory compliance within residential youth programs, unlike standard childcare jobs emphasizing daily supervision. This position demands strong leadership in therapeutic settings, ensuring best practices in mental health and safety for teens in congregate care environments.

Key competencies include clinical program management, trauma-informed care, staff supervision, and regulatory knowledge. Proficiency in behavioral health systems, case management, and effective communication within multidisciplinary teams shapes success in managing complex youth residential services.

Professionals often progress to senior program director roles or executive leadership in behavioral health organizations. This path leverages experience in clinical operations, compliance, and team leadership, opening doors to broader responsibilities in child welfare and mental health service administration.

Worcester’s diverse population and regulatory environment require cultural competence and adherence to Massachusetts state-specific child welfare laws. Navigating local resource limitations and community partnerships adds complexity to delivering quality care in this region.

Worcester’s urban-suburban mix offers reasonable commute times, but traffic during peak hours can be a factor. Many staff balance schedules to accommodate program demands, making proximity to sites like Burncoat St. and Boylston St. beneficial for maintaining work-life harmony.

Seven Hills Foundation emphasizes continuous learning, providing access to clinical training, leadership development, and performance feedback. The organization fosters a collaborative culture, encouraging innovation and ethical practice within its residential program management.

Offering between $50,000 and $55,000 annually, plus a $5,000 bonus, this pay scale aligns competitively with regional behavioral health management positions. The bonus structure incentivizes performance milestones, reflecting the role’s leadership and clinical responsibilities.

While not mandatory, Spanish-English bilingual skills are preferred to better serve Worcester’s diverse youth population. This enhances communication with families and supports inclusive, culturally responsive clinical care within congregate care settings.

A master’s or doctoral degree in social work, psychology, or mental health counseling is required, with independent licensure (LICSW, LMHC, LMFT, or licensed psychologist) highly preferred. Active CANS certification and familiarity with Massachusetts-specific regulations enhance eligibility.

The organization promotes a strengths-based, client-centered supervision style emphasizing empathy, safety, and clinical excellence. Assistant Program Directors are encouraged to model reflective listening and feedback, fostering a supportive environment for both clients and staff.
