At Amerita, compensation for Infusion Registered Nurses starts once they leave their home and continues until they return, covering all door-to-door hours. Additionally, mileage reimbursement applies whenever driving between patient visits, making travel time a paid component, which is ideal for nurses managing multiple home care appointments.
Unlike bedside nursing, infusion RNs focus on one-on-one patient care in home settings, administering complex therapies such as immunoglobulin and IV antibiotics. Their responsibilities include vascular device management, patient education, and collaboration with physicians, fostering autonomy and deeper patient relationships outside hospital walls.
Vail’s mountainous terrain can affect travel times for home visits, requiring infusion nurses to plan shifts carefully. Weather conditions might also impact patient access and schedule flexibility. Nurses in this area benefit from strong local knowledge and adaptability to maintain timely, quality care across dispersed communities.
Vail’s demand for infusion nurses is steady but less saturated than metropolitan areas, leading to potentially less competition and more personalized patient care opportunities. However, the rural setting means nurses often travel longer distances, balancing fewer patients with significant autonomy and community impact.

Demonstrating competence in IV therapy basics and a commitment to home infusion care enhances prospects for recent nursing graduates.
Beyond holding a valid nursing license in the practicing state, infusion RNs at Amerita benefit from certifications like CPR and infusion-specific credentials, though some skills like PICC line insertion require additional certification. These qualifications ensure safe, high-quality administration of complex therapies in home settings.
