Job Summary and Responsibilities
This position contributes to the mission and core values of CHI Health and reports directly to the Non-invasive Cardiac Lab Supervisor. The individual will assist in the performance of non-invasive cardiac imaging procedures and other diagnostic studies under the direct supervision of a qualified licensed provider.
- Prepares patients for examination and/or treatment by taking patient histories and vital signs and making sure all necessary procedure documentation is documented in PACS and/or the electronic health record.
- Prepares equipment and aids physicians during treatment, examination, and patient testing.
- Performs designated nursing and other patient care activities for procedures including but not limited to exercise stress exams, chemical stress exams, nuclear stress exams, transesophageal echo, and cardioversions.
- Under the direction of the supervising provider, administers intravenous medications including but not limited to conscious/moderate sedation medications, beta blockers, vasodilators, inotropic agents, and ultrasound enhancement agents.
- Monitors patient vital signs and symptoms and performs preliminary assessments of cardiac rhythms and arrhythmias to identify the presence of cardiac ischemia.
- Observes, records and reports patient condition and reaction to medications and treatment.
- Assists in facilitating patient care by working with non-invasive team members, department schedulers, cardiology providers, and anesthesia providers to coordinate and complete inpatient procedure requests.

It is also important to display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to effectively educate patients and their families.
Additional requirements for this role include:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license that allows you to practice in our state
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months
- Must be familiar with cardiac arrhythmias
