Frequently asked questions

Oceanside's healthcare sector shows moderate demand for LVN / LPN nurses, influenced by nearby urban centers like Brooklyn. Local employers prioritize candidates with New York state licenses and experience in community-based care, making certified LVNs / LPNs with multidisciplinary team skills especially sought-after in this region.

Beyond the mandatory New York state LPN license, familiarity with community health protocols and experience working with vulnerable populations, such as the homeless, can enhance candidacy. Employers in Oceanside value bilingual English-Spanish skills, though not always required, to better serve diverse local residents.

An Lvn / Lpn in this setting conducts vital sign monitoring, administers diabetes-related treatments, and maintains detailed medical histories. Coordinating care plans with social workers and community providers is a key part of ensuring residents receive consistent, comprehensive medical support.

Experience with s:us can open pathways toward advanced nursing roles or specialized community health positions. The organization's focus on continuous quality improvement and professional development supports growth, especially for LVNs / LPNs aspiring to transition into registered nursing or leadership within social service healthcare.

The LPN role at s:us includes close collaboration with social services and community health providers, ensuring residents’ medical and nutritional needs align with tailored treatment plans. This holistic approach reflects s:us’s commitment to dignity and respect while addressing complex health challenges faced by homeless individuals.

Candidates should anticipate working flexible hours including evenings and weekends, engaging in multidisciplinary teamwork, and participating in ongoing care coordination. The role demands cultural sensitivity and adaptability given the diverse client base, alongside opportunities to impact community health outcomes directly.

This LPN position offers a salary range between $53,000 and $60,000 annually, reflective of the specialized community health environment and regional cost of living. Compensation includes comprehensive benefits, enhancing the overall employment package for licensed practical nurses in this setting.

The position requires availability from Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., which includes weekend shifts. This schedule may appeal to those seeking concentrated workdays with consecutive days off, although flexibility and willingness to adapt to community needs are essential.

LVNs / LPNs act as vital links between medical assessments and social service plans, collaborating directly with directors and case managers. This integration ensures that health care delivery is both coordinated and aligned with clients’ broader support systems, reinforcing s:us’s holistic care philosophy.
