Job Summary: The Manager of Laboratory Services directs and oversees the 24-hour operations of the clinical laboratory to meet organizational needs and comply with federal and state requirements. Directs, plans, organizes and implements strategies, and initiatives to enhance and support the operations of the clinical laboratories to ensure high quality, efficient, and cost-effective operations. Directs and oversees laboratory specimen collection, specimen processing, on-site, point of care, and send-out testing services. Collaborates with facility administrative and clinical leadership in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures, programs, and initiatives that support the mission, growth and success of the institution. Provides direction to department personnel to achieve operational and technical objectives including workflow design, service quality, financial performance, regulatory compliance, personnel management, patient satisfaction, and employee engagement.
Job Requirements
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in biological or chemical sciences, as defined by CLIA.
- Minimum of one year of leadership experience as a supervisor, manager or director at a moderate or high complexity laboratory.
Required Licensure and Certifications:
- MT or CLS or MLS certification required, ASCP or equivalent
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training:
- Job duties require strong administrative skill and leadership qualities. Financial management, Human Resources, Equipment Management, Quality Management, Physician Relations, Workflow Design are key skills to be successful. Excellent communication skills are needed to influence staff and to support internal and external customers. Extensive knowledge in state and federal regulations is needed to ensure ongoing compliance.
