Overview
The Laboratory Assistant (LA) at New York Medical College (NYMC) will be an integral member of the laboratory environment supporting medical research in important areas of focus including cancer, cardiovascular disease, infectious diseases, kidney disease, the neurosciences, disaster medicine, and vaccine development. This position may involve various responsibilities including but not limited to assisting with the design and performance of experiments, documenting results, maintaining laboratory equipment and stock, and ensuring laboratory organization. NYMC is seeking a LA for the Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy in El Ouaamari laboratory. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the lab workflow so that research activities meet deadlines, under the supervision of the PI. The LA provides lab administrative support. He/she performs day-to-day lab management including initiating the purchase of equipment and laboratory supplies, maintaining reagent stocks and equipment, organizing lab meetings, enforcing lab safety guidelines and providing administrative support for compliance with regulatory bodies.
