As a Mental Health Technician, you will be a vital member of our interdisciplinary team, directly contributing to the well-being and recovery of our patients by:
- Empowering Growth & Self-Expression: Actively fostering an environment where patients feel safe to explore new behaviors, problem-solve, and develop healthy methods of self-expression, guiding them towards greater individuality and resilience.
- Facilitating Positive Change: Providing consistent feedback and positive reinforcement to help patients acknowledge and embrace responsibility for their psychological and behavioral patterns. You will expertly apply program rights and regulations, utilize behavior modification techniques, and communicate with patients in a therapeutic and appropriate manner, driving meaningful progress.
- Guiding the Healing Journey: Playing a key role in the admission process by warmly orienting patients and their families (or significant others) to the unit and our comprehensive program, ensuring a smooth and supportive transition into care.
- Delivering Essential Care: Performing crucial direct patient care tasks including diligent patient safety rounds, accurate vital sign monitoring (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respirations), precise specimen collection, timely accu-checks, weight measurements, and assisting patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) to promote comfort and dignity.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a mental health or direct patient care setting is strongly preferred.
- Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required upon hire.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field (Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, etc.).
- Graduate of an accredited Psychiatric Assistant or Nurse Aide training program.
- One year of dedicated experience in the Behavioral Health field.
- Certification as a Mental Health Technician.
