Job Summary and Responsibilities
St. John's Hospital Camarillo is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our dynamic Radiology Diagnostics department as a Department Scheduler. This crucial role ensures the smooth and efficient flow of patients through our imaging services. - Schedule patient appointments for various radiology procedures (X-ray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy, etc.) utilizing our electronic scheduling system [System Name, e.g., Epic, Cerner].
- Manage physician schedules, ensuring optimal utilization of resources and minimizing wait times.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain pre-authorization when required.
- Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, referring offices, and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and schedules.
- Respond to patient inquiries and resolve scheduling conflicts in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist with managing the department's daily workflow and operational efficiency.
- Prepare and maintain various reports as needed.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
- Assist with other administrative tasks as assigned.
- One (1) year of general office admitting or emergency room registration experience preferred.
- Use of computers.
- Excellent knowledge of medical terminology.
- Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing.
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
- Working knowledge of English grammar and spelling.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision assess critical situations and make appropriate referrals.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding patient and employee information.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to relate with the public.
- Must possess good organizational skills and the ability to maintain a filing system.
- Knowledge of computers and various software programs and demonstrated ability in general secretarial duties.
This position is represented by SEIU-UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
