Job Summary and Responsibilities
A Nurse Resident is a new graduate direct clinical care registered nurse (RN) who continues to develop nursing knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors introduced in formal education as they transition into practice. They are expected to demonstrate the appropriate competency in both core and functional areas, listed below.
Progression is expected in the areas of leading through mission vision and values, patient/customer focus, taking ownership, health care knowledge, teamwork, clinical performance improvement, service excellence, decision making and critical thinking, and patient safety.

Licensure as a Registered Nurse: TN, GA, or other multi-state compact RN license.
- Per Nursing Licensure Compact requirements, RNs with a multi-state compact license from another state must complete the application for licensure by endorsement in the new state within 60 days of relocating.
- RNs with a single-state license from a non-compact state MUST obtain a TN, GA, or other compact license prior to the cohort start date--it is encouraged that they obtain this license prior to applying.
- RNs with a single-state license from TN or GA must work on a campus in that state.
