Frequently asked questions

This position demands deep expertise in technology errors and omissions (E&O) insurance, combined with strategic portfolio oversight. Candidates must excel in underwriting strategy, risk selection, and navigating cyber insurance complexities, differentiating them from general portfolio managers who may focus on broader asset types or industries.

Professionals often progress toward senior executive leadership, such as Chief Underwriting Officer or Head of Cyber Risk. Their blend of data-driven portfolio management and innovative product development positions them to influence underwriting frameworks and global risk strategies in technology-focused insurance firms.

Balancing fast-evolving technology risks with underwriting guidelines is complex. The role involves continuous market analysis, adjusting risk appetites amid regulatory shifts, and integrating automation tools for portfolio growth, all while mentoring teams to maintain underwriting excellence.

Nautilus emphasizes operating like a tech company by leveraging data analytics, automation, and design thinking. This empowers the Avp to pioneer new insurance models, enhance risk assessment tools, and anticipate technological shifts impacting E&O and cyber lines.

Beyond competitive salaries ($150k–$225k), Nautilus provides comprehensive health, dental, vision, and wellness programs tailored to full-time employees. Their profit-sharing and 401(k) plans complement benefits, fostering financial security and work-life balance in Minneapolis’ competitive insurance job market.

Minneapolis, as a growing hub for insurance and technology, presents strong demand for experienced Avp-level talent, with salaries reflecting the city's cost of living and expertise requirements. Candidates with advanced analytical and leadership skills command premium compensation and face moderate competition.

While Nautilus Insurance’s office is centrally located, Minneapolis offers varied transit options including light rail and biking infrastructure. Many senior roles increasingly support hybrid models, easing commute concerns for experienced professionals balancing travel and remote work.

Proficiency in underwriting tech E&O and cyber risks, strong analytical skills with tools like SQL or PowerBI, and leadership capabilities are crucial. Industry designations like CPCU enhance credibility, while experience navigating complex international regulations distinguishes top candidates.

The role demands effective communication and mentorship to align underwriting strategies across regions. The Avp acts as a trusted advisor, fostering collaboration and ensuring portfolio decisions reflect global market dynamics and corporate values.

Salaries range between $150,000 and $225,000 annually, influenced by experience, education, and role complexity. This range is competitive within Minneapolis’s tech insurance sector, reflecting the specialized expertise required for managing E&O and cyber insurance portfolios.
