How you make a difference
The HR Business Partner acts as a strategic consultant to business leaders, ensuring HR strategies align with organizational goals to drive success. By delivering value-added services, they foster an engaged workforce and support both management and employees. Their expertise spans a wide range of HR functions, including compliance, employee relations, onboarding, policy interpretation, employment law, compensation, benefits, and professional development.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations & Compliance: Serve as a key contact for employee relations, conflict resolution, and workplace investigations, ensuring fair policy administration and compliance with state, federal, and local laws. Conduct investigations, provide guidance on findings, and propose solutions.
Manager & Employee Support: Advise and coach managers on employee relations, including union environments, while collaborating with management to improve work relationships, morale, productivity, and retention. Partner with other HR functions to drive engagement and workforce planning.
Training & Development: Identify training and coaching needs, provide tailored solutions, and lead onboarding processes to ensure smooth transitions for new hires. Conduct compliance training, including union-related policies and National Labor Relations Act requirements.
Organizational & Policy Strategy: Provide input on organizational structure, drive change management, and assist with handbook and policy revisions to align with regulatory updates. Ensure compliance across HR functions by reviewing and communicating legal changes.
HR Initiatives & Collaboration: Work with internal teams and HR centers of excellence (COEs) to implement HR programs and initiatives, such as employee engagement, succession planning, and union engagement. Interface with union negotiators and support broader HR strategies.

Education
- BA/BS in Business, Human Resources, or a related field
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in human resources management/partner role
- Corrections and/or Healthcare industry experience is a plus
Licenses/Certifications
- PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification preferred
