Coveted 7on/off, ED-centric position providing onsite Pharmacy support for Parkwest patients and remote support for other Covenant Health facilities. 5p-330a weekdays, 3p-330a weekends. Shift differentials and incentives offered.

Pharmacy Department Overview:
The Pharmacy Department at Parkwest operates 24/7, providing comprehensive medication services throughout the hospital, including procedural, patient care areas, and hospital-at-home services. Our team consists of Pharmacists and Registered Pharmacy Technicians, maintaining a balanced ratio to ensure efficient patient care. We take pride in our modern facilities, state-of-the-art Omnicell Carousels, medication dispensing cabinets, and anesthesia workstations. Our commitment to patient and staff safety extends to our IV Room suites, compliant with Chapter 797 and 800 standards. The Pharmacist team offers comprehensive services, including pharmacokinetic dosing, renal dosing, antibiotic stewardship, anticoagulation management, patient counseling, remote order entry, and formulary management. Our strong relationship with the medical team allows us the flexibility to expand and enhance patient care services.
Position Summary:
Provide prescribed pharmaceuticals, medications, information and clinical monitoring for adequate patient care according to professional standards and practices.

Responsibilities
- Compound, label and package medications and pharmaceuticals.
- Responsible for review of patient medication profile for drug compatibilities, allergies, and appropriateness of drug order. Clarification of medication order and/or doses of medication as necessary with physicians.
- Provide drug information to physicians, health care professionals, and patients. Assist nursing staff in calculations of infusion rates and IV drips.
- Responsible for dispensing of medications of investigational drug trials to ensure proper study protocols are followed.
- Responsible for compliance with all state and federal pharmacy regulations and requirements.
- Provide support / consultative services to physicians.
- Supervise technicians to include verification of drug order entry, filling of inpatient and outpatient prescriptions, and admixture of intravenous medications.
- Inform patients and family on proper use of various medications including dosage, side effects and composition.
- Ensure secure storage of narcotics and other controlled substances on a regular basis.
- Inspect nursing units on a monthly basis to ensure medications are maintained According to Tennessee State law and manufacturer’s storage requirements.
- Assist in preparing computerized reports such as the medication administration record and automated drug cabinet usage reports.
- Participate in community education programs to provide pharmacy information.
- Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Education:
None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

Current TN pharmacist license.
