Job Summary
Position title: Physical medicine and rehabilitation Specialist (PM&R)
Job Summary: The Physical medicine and rehabilitation Specialist also known as Physiatrist evaluates and treats patients with physical and/or cognitive impairments and disabilities that result from musculoskeletal conditions (such as neck or back pain, or sports or work injuries), neurological conditions (such as stroke, brain injury, or spinal cord injury), or other medical conditions.
Responsibilities
- Evaluates and treats patients with physical and/or cognitive impairments and disabilities that result from musculoskeletal conditions (such as neck or back pain, or sports or work injuries), neurological conditions (such as stroke, brain injury, or spinal cord injury), or other medical conditions.
- Have expertise in therapeutic exercise, medications, and injections for management of pain and spasticity; electrodiagnosis; prostheses (artificial limbs); orthoses (braces); and other equipment to assist daily activities, and coordinate treatment to help patients improve their physical, psychological, social, and vocational function.
- Manages medical issues that affect the way people function
- Treat a wide variety of medical conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, bones, joints, ligaments, muscles and tendons.
- Utilize cutting‐edge as well as time‐tested treatments to maximize function and quality of life.
- Expert at nonsurgical management of conditions including orthopedic injuries, spine-related pain and dysfunction, occupational injuries and overuse syndromes, neurogenic bowel/bladder, pressure sore management, spasticity management and chronic pain.
Qualifications
- A medical degree in the state of NY
- Four additional years of postdoctoral training in a physical medicine and rehabilitation residency.
- Must have a medical license.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Good organizational ability.
- The ability to work well alone and within a team.
- Good interpersonal skills.
Salary: $220,000-$270,000
