The Culinary Supervisor oversees coordinating and supervising staff according to food safety standards. Their duties include hiring, training, and scheduling Cooks, performing quality control on food leaving the kitchen and ordering inventory to keep up with demand.
The Culinary Supervisor will also assist the kitchen staff during the slow season and fully support covering days off, if necessary.
Responsibilities
- Check staffing levels and ensure all employees are in uniform and on time.
- Monitor the staff and ensure all guests are being cared for during their visit.
- Managing inventory so that all necessary ingredients are stocked for service.
- Hiring new staff and providing training to facilitate quick acclimation.
- Streamlining the kitchen processes to maintain prompt service times.
- Working with the Head Chef to develop and maintain the restaurant menu.
- Setting regular cleaning standards for the kitchen and verifying that staff are maintaining sanitation levels.
- Creating schedules for all kitchen staff
- Tracking kitchen finances to identify areas of potential waste.
- Support covering days off and working the line during the slow season.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-3 years of kitchen management experience
- Working knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekend, and all holidays
