Frequently asked questions

In Tioga, ND, the Unit Safety Manager 2 role uniquely blends oil and gas industry standards with local regulatory nuances, such as specific North Dakota OSHA and EPA compliance. The position demands hands-on site leadership across multiple locations, which sets it apart from broader safety management roles that may focus on corporate oversight alone.

A Unit Safety 2 professional in energy must possess a strong grasp of environmental health and safety regulations, especially OSHA and EPA standards, coupled with proven experience in risk assessment and incident root cause analysis. Demonstrated leadership in single-site EHS ownership and the ability to spearhead cultural safety initiatives are crucial differentiators.

Daily tasks include leading site-wide safety programs, conducting thorough risk analyses, managing compliance audits, and driving employee safety training. The role also involves environmental oversight, managing permits, investigating incidents with root cause analysis, and collaborating with operations to improve safety processes continuously.

In Tioga, certifications like OSHA 30-hour Construction or General Industry, HAZWOPER, and EPA-related environmental permits are highly valued. Familiarity with North Dakota-specific safety standards and state environmental regulations can provide a competitive edge given the region’s oil and gas focus.

The Tioga area, driven by energy sector growth, has a moderate demand for experienced safety managers. Positions requiring stand-alone EHS leadership are less common, making this Sodexo role attractive to qualified candidates. However, competition remains steady due to the specialized skills and regulatory knowledge required.

A Unit Safety Manager 2 in Tioga typically earns between $75,000 and $95,000 annually, reflecting local industry standards and the role’s seniority. This range aligns closely with other North Dakota locations but can vary with experience, certifications, and the complexity of managing multiple sites.

Sodexo emphasizes a blend of safety leadership and sustainability, integrating environmental programs alongside compliance. Their focus on creating an inclusive workplace culture and providing comprehensive benefits distinguishes the role, reinforcing a commitment beyond regulatory adherence to employee well-being and operational excellence.

This role serves as the central authority for all EHS activities, ensuring strict compliance with OSHA and EPA rules while fostering a proactive safety culture. By managing incident investigations and driving continuous improvement, the position helps mitigate risks that are inherent in oil and gas operations, safeguarding both personnel and assets.

Professionals in this role can progress towards regional or corporate safety director positions, expanding oversight to multiple sites or entire divisions. Acquiring advanced certifications and gaining expertise in sustainability initiatives often open doors to strategic leadership roles within safety management systems.

Yes, Sodexo supports ongoing professional growth through customized safety training, leadership development, and tuition reimbursement. This commitment ensures managers stay current on evolving regulations and best practices, enabling them to lead effectively in dynamic industrial environments like Tioga’s oil and gas sector.
