In outpatient orthopedic clinics, PTAs assist in executing treatment plans designed by physical therapists, focusing on patient mobility, strength improvement, and pain management. They also monitor progress, document outcomes, and ensure patient safety during exercises.

PTAs can advance by gaining specialized certifications, pursuing bachelor’s or master’s degrees to become licensed physical therapists, or shifting into supervisory roles within outpatient centers. Ongoing continuing education is key to unlocking these paths.

At Select Medical in New Britain, physical therapist assistants start at an hourly wage around $32, varying based on experience and certifications. This rate aligns competitively with regional averages for outpatient orthopedic roles.

Select Medical emphasizes collaboration with orthopedic physicians, offering a multi-clinician environment and access to extensive continuing education. This creates a supportive setting that fosters professional development unique to outpatient orthopedic care.

Yes, Select Medical offers comprehensive benefits, including a company-matched 401(k), unlimited access to CEU courses, national certification opportunities, and a student debt benefit program, all designed to enhance long-term career development.

Successful PTAs demonstrate strong communication, empathy, attention to detail, and the ability to follow detailed treatment plans. Familiarity with orthopedic conditions and teamwork with physicians enhances patient outcomes.

PTAs play a vital role by implementing prescribed therapies, motivating patients through rehabilitation exercises, and providing continuous feedback to physical therapists, ensuring treatment adjustments lead to optimal recovery in outpatient orthopedic cases.
