Frequently asked questions

Elmont's healthcare sector shows a steady demand for licensed practical nurses, especially in community-focused organizations. Competition can be moderate due to the area's population density and the presence of multiple healthcare providers, making timely applications crucial for securing a Staff LPN position.

While New York State LPN licensure is mandatory, experience with vulnerable populations, such as the homeless, is highly valued. Additional training in community health or bilingual skills, particularly English-Spanish proficiency, can significantly enhance candidacy for roles like the Staff LPN at s:us.

Staff LPNs typically have a focused scope involving direct patient care and coordination within multidisciplinary teams. Compared to RNs, Staff LPNs manage essential clinical duties such as vital signs and medication assistance but often work under RN supervision, especially in community-based settings.

Expect to perform vital sign monitoring, medication support for chronic conditions like diabetes, and detailed patient record entries. Coordination with social services and healthcare providers is also crucial to ensure residents receive continuous, tailored care within shelter programs.

Starting as a Staff LPN offers pathways into specialized nursing roles, case management, or supervisory positions. Gaining experience in multidisciplinary teams and completing further certifications can open doors to RN licensure or leadership roles within organizations like Services For The Underserved.

s:us emphasizes professional development through accessible training, wellness resources, and a culture fostering respect and continuous improvement. Staff LPNs benefit from comprehensive support tailored to enhance their clinical skills and maximize individual potential within the community health sector.

s:us prioritizes holistic care for underserved populations, integrating nursing with social services. Unlike typical hospital roles, Staff LPNs here engage deeply in multidisciplinary coordination and community outreach, with flexible schedules including evenings and weekends to meet client needs effectively.

Staff LPNs in this role typically earn between $53,000 and $60,000 annually, reflecting the specialized care environment and local market rates. This compensation is competitive for Elmont and includes benefits that add significant value to the overall employment package.

Yes, the Staff LPN schedule includes shifts from Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 6pm, accommodating evenings and weekends. This flexibility supports both resident care continuity and work-life balance, accommodating diverse staffing needs within community health programs.

This position stands out due to its community-centered approach, focusing on vulnerable populations like the homeless. Candidates searching locally will find that roles like this emphasize multidisciplinary teamwork, bilingual skills, and social service collaboration, differing from typical clinical LPN positions.
