Great opportunity for therapist/counselor who is passionate about patients with neurological injury, such as traumatic brain injury, stroke and spinal cord injury, to provide counseling and functional therapy to support recovery in our unique post-acute neuro setting.
Neurological inuries often lead to sudden, life-altering changes in function, indepedence and self-identity. This would be providing patients 1-on-1 counseling session, facilitating social adjustment groups and participating in functional patient activities and outings. This person would be part of a trans-disciplinary team including, but not limited to PT, OT, SLP and Nursing at the Neuro Transitional Center, a 12 bed facility.
Responsibilities
Employees in this position will:
1. Conducts comprehensive initial assessment within scope of practice
2. Collaborates with the transdisciplinary team to determine the patient expected outcome
3. Conduct individual and group counseling sessions within scope of practice
4. Promotes patient and family understanding
5. Patient team conferences and family conferences
6. Provides cognitive rehabilitation therapy addressing identified impairments incorporating personally relevant functional activities created based upon patient interests and goals
7. Participates in goal directed community integration activities
8. Incorporates formal neuropsychological test results into the plan of care, therapy tasks, and behavioral management plans
9. Develops behavioral plans for patients, educates workforce members to assure consistency, monitors, and adjusts as needed
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree appropriate to position required
- Licensed LPC/ Licensed Professional Counselor, Neuropsychologist
- Certified BLS completion required; for new hires, see CPR Requirement Guidelines for New Hires

- Superior communication and interpersonal skills
- Abilities to learn and teach psychological measures, observe confidentiality and standardization, and demonstrate accuracy, reliability and organizational skill
