Supplemental OB Hospitalist Physicians at Legacy Health collaborate closely with maternal fetal medicine specialists to oversee complex labor cases, including operative vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections. Their role includes managing emergencies like hemorrhage and providing backup for midwifery practices, ensuring comprehensive care for both low and high-risk pregnancies.

Candidates must hold an unrestricted medical license valid in Oregon and Washington, be board certified or eligible in OB-GYN, and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. These credentials ensure compliance with regional medical standards and readiness for emergency interventions.

Unlike standard OB/GYN roles, Supplemental OB Hospitalist Physicians focus exclusively on inpatient hospital care without clinic duties. They provide 12- or 24-hour in-house shift coverage, addressing urgent obstetric and gynecologic cases, supporting midwives, and facilitating continuous maternal-fetal monitoring, enhancing hospital-based maternal care.

Gresham's growing healthcare needs and Legacy Health's reputable system contribute to steady demand for OB Hospitalist roles. The competitive landscape favors candidates with board certification and bilingual skills, as well as flexibility for shift schedules. Legacy's inclusive culture attracts a diverse pool of applicants seeking meaningful hospitalist positions.

Gresham's suburban setting offers manageable commute options for Legacy Health staff, promoting work-life balance. The hospitalist role benefits from a collaborative, patient-centered culture prevalent in the area, encouraging teamwork among OB hospitalists, midwives, and maternal fetal medicine providers to deliver comprehensive care.

Legacy Health supports professional growth through multidisciplinary collaboration and exposure to complex obstetric cases. Supplemental OB Hospitalists gain experience in high-acuity environments, positioning them for future roles in maternal fetal medicine or leadership within hospitalist programs, fostering a dynamic career trajectory.

At Legacy Health, Supplemental OB Hospitalist Physicians function as vital perinatal extenders and backup for midwifery teams, with 24/7 anesthesia support and level IV NICUs on site. Their integration within a system emphasizing values in action distinguishes their role in delivering compassionate, state-of-the-art care in a supportive environment.

Physicians typically work designated 12- or 24-hour in-house shifts with access to well-equipped call rooms. The clinical scope spans full obstetric management—from normal spontaneous deliveries to operative procedures—as well as gynecologic emergencies, enabling comprehensive hospital-based care without outpatient clinic duties.

Supplemental OB Hospitalist Physicians in Gresham, OR, typically earn between $180,000 and $240,000 annually, reflecting regional demand and expertise levels. This range aligns with Pacific Northwest standards for hospitalist roles, factoring in shift work, procedural responsibilities, and the specialized nature of obstetric hospitalist care.

Legacy Health emphasizes compassionate care and patient wellbeing, integrating Supplemental OB Hospitalists into multidisciplinary teams to address high-risk pregnancies and obstetric emergencies. This alignment with organizational values ensures that physicians contribute meaningfully to community health while benefiting from Legacy’s inclusive and supportive workplace.
