Responsibilities
The NICU Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is responsible and accountable for the quality of nursing care provided in the NICU.
- Providing policies, procedures, clinical orientation, staff development, mentoring, consultation, and the maintenance of state and national standards of care.
- The CNS is responsible for the collection, submission, evaluation and dissemination of required data.
- The NICU education plan is developed and implemented in consultation with the NICU Nursing and Medical Directors.
Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
1. Current and valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State.
2. Current certification by the State Board of Nursing as a Clinical Nurse Specialist
3. Current certification in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing from a nationally recognized accrediting organization (i.e. the NCC)
4. Three (3) years of clinical experience in neonatal nursing care
a. Minimum of one (1) year experience in neonatal nursing care at a NICU that is equivalent to a Regional or Community NICU
5. NRP certificate upon hire and maintain current
6. NRP Instructor preferred
7. Current BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.

Benefits may vary based on employment status, i.e. full-time, part-time, per diem or temporary. A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $77,584.00 to $123,510.00 on an annualized basis. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
