Pharmacy:
The outpatient pharmacy is located at 1451 Dowell Springs Blvd in Knoxville, Tennessee and open Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. We also have an inpatient pharmacy located at Peninsula Hospital in Louisville, Tennessee. Patients may fill all prescriptions at the outpatient location, not just psychiatric medications. Our pharmacy team is fast, confidential and strives to give patients the most cost-effective option. We offer services such as bubble packing, employee immunizations, non-profit prescription pricing and prior authorization management. The Pharmacy at Peninsula Lighthouse is a great location for Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians who want to further their knowledge of psychiatric medications and treatments in a supportive, team-focused environment. Our staff works together to problem solve and provide excellent customer service that will meet all patients’ needs.
Position Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the pharmacist, performs functions pertaining to the dispensing of medications. Technical functions are expected to include IV process proficiency, problem solving skills and quality improvement involvement. Leadership skills are required to include demonstrated written and verbal communication that support the overall objectives of the department.

Responsibilities
- Performs all position accountabilities and performance criteria for level I and level II technicians.
- Assists the pharmacist in the training of technicians in levels I and II.
- Initiates and/or coordinates improvement activities as appropriate.
- Assists in the implementation of new projects including the development of policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates knowledge and competency in providing for age-specific needs of the population served.
- Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
- Attend meetings as required and participates on committees as directed
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications
Minimum Education
High School or equivalent. Post high school vocational/specialized training preferred.
Minimum Experience
Completion of high school algebra and typing skills required (verify algebra and typing courses in curriculum). Three (3) years experience or two (2) years with State approved certification. Pharmacy experience and computer data entry skills are desirable.
Licensure Requirement
The Tennessee Board of Pharmacy requires newly hired probationary employees to be licensed by the end of their first 90 days of hire and to maintain their Technician License in active status thereafter.
