Job Summary and Responsibilities
Virginia Mason General Surgery is seeking a Medical Assistant Registered in our Cardiology ambulatory clinic. The Medical Assistant Registered is responsible for assisting the medical and nursing staff by performing clerical and clinical support tasks as directed. Responsibilities include, coordinating schedules for patients and providers, and other clinical tasks that support our providers in patient care.
Additional responsibilities include patient flow, rooming and taking medical histories. Our Medical Assistant Registered contribute to the strength of our Team Medicine approach to collaborative medicine and benefit from the changes enacted through our Virginia Mason Production System, a model that has transformed health care by providing patients with easier access to care, reducing errors, and continuously innovatingpatient safety and quality that has been adopted by other organizations here and abroad.

Job Requirements
We require:
- High School diploma or GED
- 6 months experience in a medical office/clinic or graduation from an accredited Medical Administrative Assistant, Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant Program.
- Ability to obtain Medical Assistant Registered (MA-R) through the State of Washington, sponsored by Virginia Mason.
- Medical Assistant Registered (MA-R) through the State of Washington, sponsored by Virginia Mason, required within 60 days of hire
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Professional demeanor with a positive, upbeat attitude, strong communication skills
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal communications.
- Detail oriented with ability to multi-task. Capable to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrative and clinical staff, leaders, patients and physicians
