As a Leave Administrator, your primary responsibility is to handle the day-to-day various employee leave programs, encompassing medical leave, family and medical leave (FMLA), disability leave, and other authorized absences. Your role involves serving as the main contact person for employees seeking leave, assisting them throughout the application process, ensuring adherence to pertinent laws and company regulations, and meticulously maintaining records.
The Leave administrator’s role encompasses a range of responsibilities focused on assisting managing employee leaves of absence within the organization.
Leave Administrator
- Responsible to responding to general leave inquiries.
- Initiate medical leave, including calling employees, assessing information regarding leave to create an appropriate leave case.
- Explain basic medical leave information and what to expect during leave.
- Populate timesheets for employees out on medical leave
- Process form and send to carrier
- Handle Unassigned and Assigned Zendesk tickets
- Answer inquiries and questions related to basic information related to medical leaves within a time matter
- Provide/explain medical leave protocol/process to employees
- Learned more about job protection and how it varies from division to division
- Assist managing all leave types including COVID, Military, Paid Family Leave, FMLA, ADA, STD.
- Maintains complete and accurate records of leave.
- Preserves confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files.
- Leave payment from carrier reconciliations.
- Compile leave reports as needed.
- Provide back-up coverage to leave team members
- Maintains knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws including the FMLA, ADA, and state and local laws.
- Assist with special projects and other activities
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Customer Service
- Serve as the main point of contact for employees regarding leave inquiries and assistance.
- Provide clear guidance and support throughout the leave process, ensuring employees feel supported and informed.
- Maintain open communication channels, respond promptly to inquiries, and offer personalized assistance to address employee needs
Record Keeping
- Assist with managing records and correspondence regarding all leaves.
Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of the leave requirements and other legal protections afforded by the FMLA, ADA, and other applicable laws.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.
- Two years of human resource experience preferred.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
