Job Summary
Med Economics / Actuarial / Data Analyst will play a key role within the Essen Actuarial and Analytics Department, supporting the organization’s medical initiatives through financial modeling, risk performance analysis, and population health forecasting. The role combines actuarial insight, data interpretation, and strategic analytics to drive measurable improvements in MLR, utilization, quality and patient outcomes across multiple payers and service lines.
Responsibilities
Maintain actuarial, population health and fee for service models for trends, financial projections, risk-sharing arrangements and reconciliations
· Perform cost, utilization, and revenue analyses across lines of business
· Calculate and monitor risk scores, PMPM trends, stop-loss exposure
· Support the design and evaluation of contractual arrangements (FFS, CAP, Savings)
· Partner with Finance, IT, Contracting and Medical Management teams to identify drivers of medical spend and improvement opportunities
· Collaborate with IT and Data Engineering to ensure data integrity and automation of actuarial workflows
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, Economics, or related field
· 3–5 years of experience in healthcare analytics, actuarial analysis, or managed care
· Understanding of fee for service, value-based payment models, risk adjustment and population health metrics
· Proficiency in SQL for data analysis; experience with Power BI
· Strong knowledge of claims data, CMS methodologies, and medical cost structures
· Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to accuracy and detail
· Ability to communicate effectively with non-analytical staff and executive team
· Ability to problem solve
· Ability to create effective visualizations for presenting data intuitively
Preferred Skills:
· Experience with Medicare, ACO, or Medicaid VBP models
· Exposure to trend modeling, actuarial reserving and forecasting methodologies
· Familiarity with HCC, Quality and benchmarking logic

Salary- $120,000- $150,000 annually
