Job Summary and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Investigational Drug Pharmacists, this position is responsible for managing the clinical investigational drug (CID) inventory; providing technical director and assistance with clinical trial protocols; performing drug distribution activities, when required; maintaining information and assisting in the record-keeping related to clinical trials required by the study protocols; maintaining the work areas in a clean and orderly manner; performing workload measurement and productivity support functions; performing cross-functional and other duties and responsibilities consistent with the job classification.
Responsibilities Include:
- Manage the clinical investigational drug (CID) inventory.
- Manages inventory for clinical investigational drug trials, including independently ordering CID (within scope of authority), receiving, organizing and monitoring the use of CID.
- Conducts physical counts of CID and resolves any discrepancies.
- Monitors expiration dates of CID and returns study materials, as required.
- Maintains separate supplies of returned CID from patients for clinical trials that have this requirement.
- Performs scheduled QA responsibilities, unit inspections, outdate medication tracking and other assigned duties.
- Appropriately handles pharmaceutical waste and segregation. (Stericycle RX waste compliance program/bins)
- Maintains logs, records and other required documentation. Files documentation in the appropriate location
- Monitors all refrigerators and freezers via Temp Track or log when needed and responds to alerts and alarms appropriately and according to policy.
Experience Required
A minimum of one year hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
Education
High School Diploma/GED Completion of a Certified Pharmacy Technician Program.
Licensure
Pharmacy Technician certification and AZ Pharmacy Tech License required.
Good communication skills. Ability to work as a team member. Knowledge of drug names and basic math.
Ability to use MS Outlook, Word and Excel preferred.
