Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Director of Operations, this Operations Manager position manages and coordinates the day-to-day operations of the facility (arena and exhibition hall/meeting rooms), including engineering, maintenance, set-up/changeovers, custodial/housekeeping and grounds keeping. Provides overall administrative planning, direction, and policies to operating managers maintaining the highest quality service program to ensure client satisfaction. Assists in the development and management of annual Operations Department budget and Capital Project planning/execution. Provides overall department management assistance to the Director of Operations.
This role pays an annual salary of $50,000-$60,000

About the Venue
The Donald L. Tucker Civic Center features a 12,500-seat arena, 34 luxury suites, 476 club seats, over 54,000 sq. ft. of meeting and exhibition space and an arena view restaurant, the Spotlight Grille. The arena is home to Florida State Men’s and Women’s basketball and is known for its electric atmosphere and fierce home court advantage. Not only a music and sports venue, the arena also is frequently used for trade shows, large catered functions, receptions, religious services, and classes.
Responsibilities
- Oversees daily operation and maintenance of the facility and all systems. This includes HVAC, sound, lighting, fire protection, life safety, workplace safety, communications, video boards, etc.
- Schedules and oversees Changeover Supervisors, Building Mechanics, Building Services staff, etc.
- Provide support and management oversite of Custodial services including daily cleaning, pre-event, event and post-event cleaning, day-to-day operations
- Manage preventative maintenance program for all facility assets by tracking, logging, scheduling, monitoring all facets to extend life of equipment and systems additionally provide hands on assistance to maintenance staff as necessary to complete necessary duties.
- Oversee the administration of all part time staff: Hire, train, evaluate, and motivate
- Provide support and management oversite of the Operations department: event set-up and tear-down, i.e. basketball floor, stage risers, chairs, signs, etc.
- Assists in negotiation and administration of contracts with outside vendors including pest control, scoreboard systems, seasonal landscaping, etc
- Participate in the development and administration of the Operations Department budget; Forecasting of future funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures.
- Order supplies and materials for building supplies and maintenance within budget guidelines
- Acts as co-liaison with University, City and State Services for numerous facility related functions (City Codes, Fire Safety Codes, Parking, Licenses, permits, etc.)
- Responsible for Health & Safety compliance
- Represents Operations Department in absence of Director of Operations
- Other duties as assigned by Director of Operations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s/Technical degree from an accredited college/university/school preferred
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in facility operations management
- Must show demonstrated knowledge of physical plant management, supervisory skills and experience in work crew supervision in facility operations
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including, early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays and extended number of consecutive days
- Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in the English language
- Possession of or ability to obtain a valid CPR certificate
- Possession of or ability to obtain a valid state driver’s license
- Possession of or ability to obtain a valid forklift license
- Knowledge of budget preparation and control
- Knowledge of OSHA requirements
