Frequently asked questions

To thrive in value-based care programs like the ACO at Essen Health Care, active New York State NP or PA licenses, national board certifications, and a current DEA license are crucial. These credentials ensure compliance with state regulations and support comprehensive patient care in Bronx's healthcare environment.

Unlike conventional primary care, this position focuses on in-home, mission-driven care targeting high-risk patients. It integrates population health strategies and interdisciplinary collaboration, emphasizing preventative care and reducing hospital admissions, which aligns with New York's shift towards value-based healthcare models.

Daily tasks include conducting thorough physical exams, managing chronic diseases, ordering diagnostics, and coordinating with care teams. Providing personalized treatment plans and addressing social determinants of health are also key, reflecting the complexity of serving vulnerable populations in these regions.

Essen Health Care provides a competitive total compensation package, including a base salary of $145,000 plus up to $75,000 in performance incentives, a $10,000 retention bonus after one year, and comprehensive benefits such as medical, dental, 401(k), and malpractice insurance tailored to support clinical staff.

Essen prioritizes culturally competent care by seeking bilingual professionals and those experienced in home-based primary care. This approach addresses the Bronx's diverse population needs, emphasizing equity and compassionate service within their integrated ACO framework.

Clinicians gain exposure to innovative value-based care models and interdisciplinary collaboration, enhancing skills in chronic disease management and care coordination. Essen supports professional development through training with PCPs and specialists, positioning staff for leadership roles in evolving healthcare systems.

The Bronx's high-need population drives strong demand for skilled NP and PA professionals in home-based care, especially within ACOs. Candidates with experience in geriatrics, chronic care, and bilingual abilities often find an advantageous position amid growing healthcare initiatives in this borough.

Given the geographic spread, clinicians should plan for variable travel times and transportation modes. Public transit accessibility varies, so familiarity with local routes and scheduling flexibility is essential for managing home visits efficiently across these New York locations.

While Essen Health Care offers a total compensation around $220,000 for this role, salaries can fluctuate with local cost of living. Westchester County typically offers higher base pay due to suburban demand, but Bronx positions often include incentives reflecting urban healthcare challenges and patient complexity.

Essen uniquely combines a population health approach with home-based care, serving over 250,000 patients annually. Their integrated ACO model emphasizes interdisciplinary teamwork and innovation, offering clinicians meaningful impact opportunities beyond standard clinical duties in NYC.
