Position Summary:
Provides leadership and oversight for specialty area. Acts as a resource for the specialty area.

Responsibilities
- Develops service goals.
- Responds to specialty/emergency/needs as needed.
- Functions as a resource person and team leader.
- Demonstrates competence in critical skills to include delivery of care appropriate to the age-specific needs of the population served.
- Evaluates service inventory and adjusts.
- Orders specialty items.
- Serves as liaison with medical staff and other customers.
- Serves as expert, resource, and consultant for specialty area.
- Coordinates maintenance of service equipment.
- Maintains proficiency for specialty area.
- Researches alternatives for usage of equipment/instruments.
- Provides feedback (verbal and written) on staff performance.
- Refers personnel conflict management to supervisor, manager, or director.
- Develops and implements educational training programs for personnel.
- Assumes departmental charge responsibilities as needed (weekends, 3-11, holidays, etc.).
- Recommends staff assignments to provide optimal customer satisfaction.
- Identifies learning needs with staff.
- Monitors schedule in advance to prevent conflicts and coordinates needs.
- Problem solves and trouble shoots specialty conflicts (equipment, instrumentation, etc.).
- Researches and submits proposed budget purchase items each year and as needed.
- Maintains/updates specialty charges.
- Maintains, develops, and updates specialty surgeon preference cards.
- Develops specialty instrumentation trays and procedural packs.
- Meets with staff monthly to discuss staff needs, goals and problems as associated with the services.
- Provides at least eight (8) credit hours of in-service per year.
- Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.
Minimum Experience:
Minimum of four (4) years professional experience.
Licensure Requirement:
Valid Tennessee RN license or current and active national Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification established by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
