What Wexner Heritage Village is — and why it matters
Wexner Heritage Village is a long-established senior living and care community with over 70 years of experience caring for older adults and families in Central Ohio.
It offers a full spectrum of services: independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, hospice, and senior housing.
The philosophy of care is grounded in dignity, respect, and holistic wellness — physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually.
Given this variety and depth, therapists (physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, etc.) can expect a diverse, meaningful caseload and the opportunity to work within a well-rounded care environment.
🎯 Why a Therapist Like Working Here
Meaningful impact & variety of cases — Because residents have a wide range of health needs (post-surgical rehab, chronic illness management, memory care, long-term care, hospice, etc.), a therapist can help people through many stages of aging or recovery. This variety means professional growth and fulfilling, purpose-driven work.
Holistic, person-centered care philosophy — The facility emphasizes dignity, respect, and individualized care plans. That aligns well with a therapist’s desire to treat people as whole individuals, not just as medical “cases.”
Interdisciplinary team & resources — Wexner offers on-site nursing, medical services, lab/radiology, dialysis, rehab services, and more. For a therapist, that environment supports coordinated care.
Supportive workplace benefits (for staff) — According to their careers page, Wexner Heritage Village offers competitive benefits: health/dental/vision insurance, retirement matching, paid time off, and other typical employee perks.
Mission-driven organizational culture — Their guiding values are about kindness, respect, self-expression, and enriching residents’ lives. For therapists who value humanistic care, this culture can be very rewarding.
Opportunities for specialization and growth — With services like memory care (for dementia/Alzheimer’s), hospice, rehab after surgeries or strokes, there are opportunities for therapists to specialize, develop skills, and take on different kinds of client challenges.
🧑⚕️ What It’s Like on the Ground — Care & Client Population
Therapists at Wexner might work with:
Residents needing post-surgical rehab (joint replacements, cardiac recovery, neurological conditions, etc.
Individuals requiring long-term care — managing chronic conditions, mobility issues, or age-related decline.
Memory care clients dealing with dementia, Alzheimer’s, or other cognitive impairments, where therapy may include not just physical/occupational therapy but also support for daily living, mobility, and quality-of-life.
Residents looking for a supportive, social community — meaning therapists can also contribute to wellness, social engagement, and overall quality-of-life beyond just “medical therapy.”
✅ What Makes It A Good Fit — For Therapists Who Want More Than “Just a Job”
You’d be part of a community-focused, mission-driven organization that values dignity, respect, and holistic wellness.
You’d have diverse clients and challenges, which helps prevent burnout/trivialization — aging, recovery, chronic illness, memory care, end-of-life care.
You’d enjoy collaboration with medical staff, nursing, social work, and support services — promoting integrated care and learning from different disciplines.
You’d benefit personally from good employee benefits and a stable working environment.
