Full Time, 80 Hours Per Pay Period, Day Shift
Four 10-hour shifts (7:00am - 5:30p) with rotating day off. Rotating call.

Position Summary:
Provide assistance to the radiologist, surgeon and/or anesthesiologist in performing diagnostic angiographic procedures, complex peripheral and neuro interventional procedures, measuring vascular parameters such as but not limited to blood flow velocity, vascular dynamics, intravascular pressure measurements, oximetry determination, trans-hepatic pressure measurements and pulmonary pressure measurements. The technologist assists in all phases of catheterization procedure including but not limited to insertion of the catheter, operation of various electronic instruments and calculation of vascular dynamic data. Performs 3-D angiography cath volume measurements and intraprocedural CT scans. The IVR tech is expected to exercise independent judgement and discretion in performing the duties listed below. Performs ultrasound for vascular access.

Responsibilities
- Clinical expertise and knowledge of unit are such that complex patient management and physician issues are resolved independently. Serves in other areas as needed and provides education and training to new staff members, students, other departments, as well as other Covenant Facilities in IVR/Hybrid/Cath Lab. Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, general safety and radiation safety standards (ALARA), and equipment quality control. Actively participates in the orientation and training of new employees and students.
- Demonstrates proficiency in complex clinical skills to include but not limited to; catheters, sheaths, guidewires, intra-arterial angioplasty balloons, atherectomy and mechanical thrombectomy devices., stents, complex percutaneous transluminal arterial angioplasty, neurovascular embolization, radio-embolization, acute stroke intervention, complex intracranial vascular procedures and liver segment volume calculations, lymphangiography, TIPS, biopsies, TACE, gastrostomy and nephrostomy tubes, pleurx drains, and biliary drains. Demonstrates proficiency in vascular anatomy and physiology, correlating pressure wave forms and rhythm analysis. Proficient in patient assessment, monitoring and sterile technique as required. Assists in the maintenance and effective use of all equipment and supplies in the clinical areas. Proficient in sterile procedure. Works as a scrub tech and circulator during procedures.
- Coordinates procedures with other departments as needed. Schedules Interventional Radiology procedures. Assists with coordination of vendor reps. Assists with inventory control. Follows up with patients post discharge as needed. Responds appropriately and timely to patients, physicians and other customers’ needs.
- Member of performance improvement and/or education teams. Keeps abreast of all new educational vascular and neuro technology and procedures.
- Stays current in Basic Life Support (BLS) and performs BLS as needed.
- Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.

Qualifications
Minimum Education:
None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

Licensure Requirement:
Must have and maintain current registration as a Registered Radiology Technologist ARRT (R). Advanced certification in Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI), Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography (CV), Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI), or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) category must be obtained within 18 months of employee start date in IVR. State licensure in accordance with Tennessee guidelines.
