Daily activities for part-time orthodontic assistants often include prepping treatment rooms, sterilizing instruments, assisting during procedures, and educating patients about post-treatment care. Flexibility in balancing clinical and some administrative duties is key.

Progression can lead to roles such as lead orthodontic assistant, office manager in dental practices, or pursuing further education to become a licensed dental hygienist or orthodontic technician, expanding opportunities within dental healthcare.

Some believe orthodontic assistants only handle simple tasks; however, the role requires precise coordination during treatments, patient education, and regulatory compliance knowledge, making it a critical and skilled position in dental care.
